You get what you pay for...

This week, our friend and family photographer, Natalie Shelton, came to our house for our first family photo shoot with my son Sullivan. Natalie has captured all of our special moments ever since my wife and I got engaged in 2012. In the days leading up to her visit, Cristina and I always have this conversation: “Do we really need this? Should we spend the money?”

Yesterday we received the photos she took earlier in the week, and we realized that no matter how many pictures we have taken on our phones, we are not professional photographers. Natalie is a true professional and an artist. Natalie captured a moment in time that we will never get back again and for that we will be grateful for years and years to come.

When you pay too much, you lose a little money — that is all. When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything, because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the thing it was bought to do. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot — it can’t be done. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

Do you know anyone who does this with their health? Why would I pay someone to do something I can do myself? I can take a picture, but I have not dedicated my life to taking pictures.

You get one body. You get one life, and it ends when your body fails. If you realize you need to make a change, don’t be cheap. You are worth the investment!
